Why should I attend for my dental examination?

Healthy teeth and gums have a massive impact on your health and wellbeing and that is why we recommend you attend for regular dental appointments, so any problems can be identified early and treated quickly. Reducing the need for any extensive, expensive dental treatment.

What does the dentist check at my dental examination?

At your regular dental examination, your dentist will assess your gums and teeth to look for any inflammation, bone loss or decay. They will also evaluate your risk of developing gum disease, mouth cancers and any other oral health problems. The dentist will also take x-rays to allow them to see those areas not visible to the naked eye, e.g. between teeth and tooth roots. Finally the dentist will perform a mouth cancer check.

Are dental x-rays safe?

X-rays also known as radiographs, are an essential part of your dental treatment plan. X-rays are used to diagnose early signs of tooth decay in areas that the dentist cannot see with the naked eye.
The radiation received from a dental x-ray is incredibly small and much less than is received from natural sources, including minerals in the soil and from our general environment. Constant advances in technology, including the shift to digital imaging plates, and the fact that the dentist will only take X-rays when they are clinically necessary mean that the risk from dental X-rays are kept as small as possible.

Why does the dentist ask me lifestyle questions?

The dentist will ask lifestyle questions so that they can provide you with the best oral hygiene advice to meet your needs. Keeping your teeth looking as good as possible for as long as possible.

What if I need further treatment?

Should the dentist find any issues, they will discuss with you the treatment options available. They will then provide you with a full written treatment plan so you can make an informed decision of how you would like to proceed.

Do you offer a way for me to spread the cost of my dental treatment?

Yes, we are very pleased to be able to offer Denplan payment plans. Denplan allows you to spread the cost of your dental treatment into fixed monthly payments. Do not hesitate to ask Reception or your dentist at your next appointment for more details.
